TIME MANAGEMENT
Don't you wish that you had as much time as you need
to do every task that you have to do as well as you want to do it?
Well, it's not going to happen. You, do we have to
keep saying it, are a mom. A mom not only has to do the things
necessary to keep a household going and provide constant care for all
family members, she often has to be the best worker in her company,
the best volunteer in her organization, and the best member of her
church.
If you're striving for the "best of the lot"
award, you probably already have some highly honed time management
skills. Heck, if you have time to read this, you probably have better
time management skills than we do. But, if you're still working on
your best of lot merit badge, may we first suggest that you learn the
greatest time management skill of them all.
JUST SAY "NO."
Also learn to say, "DO IT YOURSELF." Learn to delegate. Even
a small child can pick up their toys -- usually only when you start
loading them into a garbage bag after asking the kid to pick them up
at least three times. If he leaves his socks and underwear on the
floor instead of taking them to the laundry room, and you feel
compelled to pick them up, then fold them neatly and put them back in
his drawers with the clean socks and underwear.
Make
the request. Follow up with consequences. Change behavior of those
around you. But remember, when you have too many demands on your time
to do the important things right, it's time to say "NO."
